Verna supports physically challenged street hawker GHS 5000
The life-transforming campaign by Verna Purified Drinking Water under the Twellium Foundation has once again attended to the plight of another vulnerable on the streets of Accra.
Gladys Blessings Podjer, a 32-year-old physically challenged single parent of two has been hawking on the streets of Ghana’s capital city for thirteen years selling call cards and snacks whilst bracing the dangers and threats of vehicles to fend for her family.
Thanks to Verna Purified Drinking Water, her dream of leaving the streets to become a fashion designer has received the needed support to make it a reality.
On Wednesday 23 August 2023, Gladys was presented with a cash amount of Five Thousand Cedis (GHS 5000) during the Verna Changing Lives Campaign project dubbed ‘Accra Turning Point’ the Rawlings Park edition’.
The elated Gladys said that part of this money received from Verna would be used to pay her rent. She also expressed her gratitude to Verna Purified Drinking Water for this gesture.
This CSR project aims to better the lives of those burdened by adversity through regular provision of prompt responses to the urgent problems faced by people on the streets of Accra.
Gladys is the third person in addition to Madam Lydia Korkoi Armah 61 years old petty trader who needed money for her medical bills, and a 44 years old female coconut seller, Lorraine Obeng a mother of two who is doing a male-dominated job to cater for her children’s education to have received GHS 5000 each from Verna and powered by 3FM 92.7 MHz Your Urban Lifestyle radio.
3FM and TV3 through broadcast and all MG digital platforms will keep the audience updated on this life-changing project scheduled for 12 weeks.
